How to create new email accounts

You can create and manage your email accounts through your control panel.
  1. Log in via our main website by completing the first login box titled 'Hosting Control Panel'.
  2. Click on the email link to enter the email manager
    Email Manager
     e-mail
  3. The following screen looks quite busy, so take a moment to get a feel for it.
It is broken into sections, with the top part of the page giving you general information, and the bottom listing all of your current email accounts.
  4. Look for the title 'E-mail Setup Functions' and click the link 'New E-mail'.
  5. Enter the email address (the domain is already completed for you)
  6. Tick AntiSpam and AntiVirus to help protect this email account.
'Catch All' is optional and means that all unassigned email will be routed to this email account.
You will probably see more SPAM if you select this option (See Dealing with SPAM for more information).
  7. Tick Mailbox to build a mailbox for this email account. This is where the email will be stored. You will normally do this unless you only want emails to this address to be forwarded somewhere else, e.g. another user or an address on another domain.
  8. Enter a password, this is what the user will need to access their email, so make a note of it.
  9. If you are known by several names, you can enter them in the 'Alias By' box.
For Example, John Doe might setup johnd@domain.com but he might also want email to jdoe@domain.com to come to him as well. To achieve this John would enter jdoe in the 'Alias By' box.
  10. This is enough information to create the account, so click Submit at the bottom of the page.
  11. Your new email now appears in the list at the bottom of the Mail Manager screen.

But what about the other options?

Mail Forward is to send email received to this email address to another email address automatically. You wouldn't normally use it alongside a Mailbox, but it can be useful if you are going on holiday and temporarily handing your work to someone else to manage. Your email will be forwarded, you maintain a copy and you don't have to give access to your email account.
You can create email addresses that only forward on without storing the emails. To do this, do not tick Mailbox (skip 7 & 8 above), but do select Mail Forward and enter the email address you want to forward to.

Mail Alias. Use the one I have previously described above.

Auto Responder. I can't recommend this option any more. Whilst it is a great idea and can prove very useful when you are out of contact for a period of time, it will unfortunately respond to all emails and that will include the emails that slip through the Spam Filter. This may identify your email address as valid to the SPAM community and increase the amount you receive. You have been warned!
